I set up the payment system with paypal and had a customer buy a product. I see where it is pending in my admin page but when I go to paypal I do not see payment. Any clue on why payment may not be transfering to paypal.

Probably you didn't set up auth_token correctly, you have to follow instructions from Manual http://demo15.sitesoutlet.com/help/index.html#11 thoroughly
